Miss Avye Turns 1!

Avye turned one a few weeks ago. Here are some photos. There are lots more on Facebook!

A Whoops-That-Hurt Kind of Day

Drew had a really bad day last Tuesday - You would think he was learning to walk again. He fell in the garage and his lip swelled enuf to stick out as far as his nose then he tripped in the basement and cut his eye. I should have taken the photo on Wednesday 'cause it looked MUCH worse. But here he is...
Well, we headed to Vancouver Island for the Remembrance Day weekend to catch up with friends. Our last time there we were newly married - about 8 weeks. This time we had three kids in tow! A different holiday but lots of fun. We met up with Crystal and Carlin (and stayed with them). Had supper and coffee with old friends and hung out under the rainclouds in Victoria. It was all very refreshing...except for the 3 am wake up to make it to the airport in time! Here we are in Vancouver waiting for our next flight!
A very thirsty Drew trying to get some Starbucks Strawberry Cream drink from his dad!
Yummy. The first thing he said "You should have got two...". No problem, honey! I won't have any.
Finally the little guy gets a drink!

Friday In Victoria

Friday in Victoria was very wet. We toured around - to the Miniature World, and then the Craigdarroch Castle. Also we had coffee with Brady Anderson. Also we had supper with an old friend, Shane Hoag and his wife Anne. (Photo of them on facebook!)

Miniature World - another great place to take kids. So much for them to look at and they can't even touch it. PLUS we had the whole place to ourselves!

The Craigdarroch Castle - a must see in Victoria. Even the kids had fun looking around and climbing the stairs.

Saturday

We went to the Imax - the kids played in the leaves before we went in. Didn't take too many more photos - the guys took the kids and Crystal and I went shopping.

Saturday Evening

The Munros.
We had supper at Bruce and Rachel Munro's. Our first time to meet Chad and Rachel as well. We made a horrible impression I am sure as the guys (Carlin and Greg) had the kids and fed them lunch an hour and a half before we were to have supper! They fed them Pizza Hut pizza and guess what we had for supper at their house...? Yep, more pizza!

Jack holding baby Chad...Pleased as punch. We might have lots of help when this new baby arrives! Bathing the boys...so much noise. Wish I could have captured it. The girls were just a bunch of gigglers...

Sunday Morning

Sunday morning went very well for all the kids involved. We were out of the house on time for meeting and all kids were six and under! Aren't they all darlings? Especially the curler ladies?

Sunday

Some photos from Sunday...the kids had such fun together as you might be able to tell! Drew and Ava - might have to watch these two in a few years, eh?!

Crystal and Carlin still getting along like newlyweds!!

Paige and Annie. Jack and Bentley.
Great intentions to load up our blog this Sunday afternoon but it is NOT cooperating with me. So I will try again later...sorry folks! I have heaps of photos ready to go so please check back.

Heading Home...

It took us awhile to leave the island....not just 'cause we loved it but because of trouble at the airport. First of all we got to the airport a bit early and the helpful attendant told us we could get the flight one hour earlier. Why sit in the little Victoria airport when we could be in Vancouver? So sure we went for it. Then we got on that plane and it was having technical problems and would not start. Off we got...only we couldn't get on our original flight 'cause they had filled it. We got on the next available which made us late for our connecting flight to Edmonton. To top it off on our way back through security, Greg got poked and prodded because they found some "residue" on our laptop that for some reason got missed earlier. Fertilizer maybe since he was a farmer, etc, etc...and on it went. Thankfully while waiting for our delayed flight out of Victoria Annie found some friends - fresh off the plane from living in South Africa. The flight we were waiting for was late as well because the flight attendant was sick so they bumped us all again. Kind of make us wonder if we would ever get home, but we did! Just a bit late...
